Overview
The Microscopy Core Facility (MCF) offers a wide range of sample preparation and processing for transmission electron microscopy (TEM) for both research and clinical applications. Tissue samples and cells grown in culture are processed to produce the final grids required for the acquisition of photomicrographs using TEM.
The facility is located in the James H. Quillen College of Medicine on the VA campus of East Tennessee State University in Johnson City, Building 119, Room 119.
Photomicrograph Services
Users are encouraged to consult and use the JIAM Microscopy Center facility located in Knoxville at the University of Tennessee to obtain final photomicrographs of their samples.
Please note that the University of Tennessee charges separate fees for photomicrograph services. These fees are independent of any costs associated with sample processing at the Microscopy Core Facility.
Consultation Services
If you are new to the facility or electron microscopy methodology, it is recommended that you consult with EM staff before starting a project to ensure proper handling of samples.
Consultations are provided at no cost.
