Crafts Room Supervisor

Employees in this class are under general supervision. Work performed in the instruction of various crafts such as ceramics, macramé, etc., and performing related work as assigned.
Characteristic Duties and Responsibilities
Instructs on hobby craft projects in ceramics, macramé, decoupage, candle making, and other minor hobby crafts.
Stilts, loads, and unloads electric kilns.
Pours and maintains ceramic molds.
Operates and maintains tools and equipment involved in working with various crafts.
Requisitions, inventories, and stores supplies and equipment.
Maintains records of cash sales of materials and facility use fees, purchases and deposits.
Calculates cost of craft projects.
Performs other work as assigned.
Required Knowledge and Abilities
Knowledge of the procedures, methods and techniques involved in hobby crafts.
Knowledge of the use of required tools and equipment.
Knowledge of instructional procedures and methods.
Knowledge of basic recordkeeping and inventory methods and practices.
Knowledge of hazards and safety precautions.
Ability to instruct others in hobby crafts.
Ability to use required tools and equipment.
Ability to requisition, inventory and store supplies and equipment.
Ability to establish and maintain an effective working relationship with the students, the public and other employees.
Applicants possessing these qualifications have a good probability for success in this class. However, applicants not possessing these qualifications should apply if they believe their training and experience will enable them to perform the work successfully. Graduation from a standard high school. Experience in hobby crafts.
