Welcome to the third grade website! This website serves as a communication tool for parents, a resource for students, and an inside look at the third grade class at University School for our College of Education friends and the community.
Welcome to the third grade! My name is Erin Doran, and I will be your child’s third grade teacher. I love being a part of the faculty here at University School. I would like to take this opportunity to introduce myself, and I look forward to working together this school year!
Professionally, I received my education training from The University of Tennessee in Knoxville. I earned a Bachelor and Masters degree in Education, and most recently my Education Specialist degree in Administration and Supervision. I have certifications in early childhood education, urban/multicultural studies, early childhood special education, and school administration.
This will be my seventeenth year as an educator! My teaching experience prior to University School includes seven years teaching third grade and two years as a Curriculum and Instruction Facilitator with the Knox County School System. I also spent time as an administrative intern while working on my Education Specialist degree. I look forward to beginning my eighth year here at University School.
I was born and raised in Kingsport, and after 13 years in Knoxville my family returned to East Tennessee in May 2011. My family includes my husband Josh (also a Kingsport native), an eight year old son named Finley, and an almost five year old son named Archer. My husband attended East Tennessee State University, and spent some time as the mascot “Bucky!” As a family, we love to spend time outdoors, swimming, going to the movies, shopping at Target, and traveling!
I am thrilled to be teaching the third grade once again, and know that it will be a successful year. I have been busy planning an engaging, challenging, and exciting curriculum for the upcoming school year. Our lessons will be based on the Tennessee State Standards. I look forward to getting to know you and your child as the year progresses. I believe communication is a critical part of your child’s learning. Please feel free to contact me at firstname.lastname@example.org. If your child has any special medical needs (allergies or takes medication at school) or anything else I need to be aware of in order to ensure their health and safety, please contact me prior to the first day of school.
The school supply list is attached for your convenience. The class policies and procedures will be sent home in July.
Let’s Have a Great Year,
Mrs. Erin Doran
