Wambui Kang'ara
Returning for a second term of service, Wambui is a graduate student from Kenya pursuing a Master’s in Brand & Media Strategy. She serves as a Graduate Assistant in the Graduate School’s Recruitment & Marketing department and as Vice President of Shades of Africa. With a proven record of leadership and student engagement, Wambui is committed to ensuring that graduate and international students are well represented in decisions and opportunities. She looks forward to contributing to the Financial Aid Student Advisory Council to advance access, equity, and student success.

Bonnie Matthews
Returning for a second term of service, Bonnie is a senior majoring in Supply Chain Management with a Operation and Analytics concentration and a minor in Finance. Along with being in the student council, she is actively involved within the College of Business and Technology. Bonnie looks forward to graduating in the spring and looks forward to her future career in the Supply Chain Field.

Hunter Mehaffey
Returning for a second term of service, Hunter is a junior majoring in Media and Communication with a minor in Marketing. He is a Donor Relations Assistant for University Advancement, Executive Editor of the student publication, “Overlooked In Appalachia," and a writer for the East Tennessean. Additional involvements include membership in the American Marketing Association and Young Professionals on Campus. Passionate about storytelling, Hunter serves as an active voice for communication strategy efforts across campus.

Sierra Arguello
Sierra is an English major with a minor in journalism. She is also an Expedition Leader, a Study Abroad Ambassador, and a member of a few other clubs on campus. With a passion for literature and writing, she hopes to either go into education after graduating or work in Public Relations. Some things she loves are her cat, coffee, and nature.

Alexandra Battle
Alexandra is a senior in Interior Architecture who is deeply engaged in both campus and community life. She serves as Director of Young Professionals on Campus, is a founding member of ETSU’s chapter of the American Society of Interior Designers, and is a member of Omicron Delta Kappa, the national leadership honor society. Alexandra also sits on multiple advisory boards focused on community success and regional engagement. With a passion for mentorship, design, and building strong connections across campus, she is excited to help strengthen communication and transparency through the Financial Aid & Scholarships Student Advisory Council.

Elisabeth Dennis
Elisabeth is a senior majoring in Psychology and minoring in Biology. She is a McNair Scholar, a member of the Brain-Computer Interface Lab, and an Undergraduate Research Honors Scholar. She currently serves as co-chair of ETSU Votes, Multimedia Editor for the East Tennessean, and as a Supplemental Instruction Leader for General Genetics. Previously, she has served as an SGA Senator. After graduation, she is pursuing a PhD in Biobehavioral Neuroscience, with a focus on schizophrenia and psychosis. As a first-generation student, she is passionate about empowering disadvantaged students through financial aid, scholarships, and her work in collaboration with the Open and Affordable Advisory Council, which seeks to make textbooks more affordable.

Ellie Early
Ellie is a sophomore majoring in Biomedical Health Sciences. She is a Resident Advisor, as well as a graduate of the Dr. Brenda White Wright Emerging Leaders Academy. Ellie is passionate about servant leadership and giving back to the communities that give to her, as well as spending time enjoying the nature and trails that surround ETSU. She intends to use her leadership skills in the future as she plans to attend medical school once completing her undergraduate studies.

Hunter Ináncsi
Hunter Ináncsi is a senior double majoring in Corporate Finance & Investments and Financial Economics. He is passionate about serving as a student leader in many student organizations. Hunter has served in leadership roles in the Student Government Association (SGA), Students of Finance Association (SOFA), East Tennessee Fraternity Council (ETFC), Buccaneer Investment Fund (BIF), PartyBucs, and POLO. He was also a student member on the Student Activities Allocation Committee (SAAC) and BUC-Fund. Hunter was inducted into the Omicron Delta Kappa National Honor Society at the 2025 Summit Awards. He is also a proud member of Beta Upsilon Chi.

Emma McElroy
Emma is a junior majoring in Social Work. She serves as the Connect Chair for Young Professionals on Campus and is passionate about community building and mental health. She aspires to pursue a career in therapy, specializing in OCD and anxiety. She loves singing, reading, and helping people.

Chloe Myers
Chloe is a senior majoring in Political Science and minoring in Health Sciences. She is an active member of the Honors College Changemaker Program, where she has served as both a peer mentor and a coordinator. Her unique perspective on the intersection of healthcare and public policy, paired with her passion for improving patient care in rural communities, has inspired her to pursue a career as a Physican Assistant following her undergraduate education.

Daniel Owens
Daniel is a senior triple majoring in Finance, Accounting, and Economics with a minor in Global Citizenship. He is also a Global Citizens Scholar, president of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity Inc. and vice-president of the Students of Finance Association. He is passionate about finance, and wants to use that passion to help give knowledge and information to students on campus who do not typically have Financial Aid knowledge.

Kemper Rasnake
Kemper is from Abingdon, Virginia, and graduated from ETSU in the winter of 2023 with a B.S. degree in Microbiology. Kemper is currently a master's student in Microbiology at ETSU with a passion for making science fun for all! Kemper is the graduate representative for the American Society of Microbiology chapter at ETSU, also part of the Chess, Philosophy, and Synthetic Biology Club. Kemper’s dreams are to one day become a primary care physician in this area to serve those who are underserved!

Olivia Rose
Olivia is a senior majoring in English with a minor in Digital Marketing fully online. She is passionate about education, cultural exchange, and using her creative skills to make a positive impact. Alongside her academic work, she has experience in event planning, freelance marketing, extensive overseas travel, and animal rescue. After graduation, she looks forward to pursuing opportunities that allow her to combine creativity, service, and global connection.

Georgeline Udogu
Georgeline is from Nigeria. She is a seasoned educator with international teaching experience across four continents, unwavering advocate for childhood intervention, teachers' appreciation, and inclusive education. She is currently pursuing a master's degree in early childhood education and have over a decade of hands-on classroom experience, leadership, competence, and community building skills. Georgeline’s life purpose is rooted in creating an environment where every child, and educator can thrive, be seen, heard, and empowered regardless of ability, label, or race. As a dynamic contributor and volunteer, she actively serves on several committees on campus, including Access ETSU and Bridges International at ETSU, where she uses her voice and lived experience to promote inclusion, cultural awareness, and student support across diverse communities.

Zach Wallin
Zach is a sophomore majoring in health sciences and is on the early admissions track to attend Gatton College of Pharmacy starting fall 2026. Currently, he serves as a member of the Pre- Pharmacy Student Organization and serve as a POLO Leader. Outside of academics, he enjoys hiking, reading, and cooking/ baking. He looks forward to serving ETSU students through service on the Student Advisory Council.

Rhonda Williams
Rhonda is a doctoral student at East Tennessee State University specializing in Health Services Management and Policy, with a Certificate of Interprofessional Education for Advanced Learners. She brings a wealth of international and interdisciplinary public health experience, including work as an epidemiologist, technical officer, and medical doctor. Rhonda currently serves as a Graduate Research Assistant with CARE Women’s Health and a Teaching Assistant in key public health courses. Deeply committed to advancing maternal and women's health, she has contributed to national and global health initiatives through policy development, applied research, and community-based interventions. After completing her doctorate, she aims to lead equity-focused health programs or pursue an academic career transforming systems of care for underserved populations.

Geneva Young
Geneva is a junior pursing a bachelor's degree in Healthcare Administration with a double minor in Public Health and Advertising. She is an active member of Alpha Omicron Pi, Reformed University Fellowship (RUF), Health Administration Student Association (HASA), and Young Professionals on Campus. Additionally, she serves as an editorial writer for the East Tennessean. Geneva is passionate about being an active and involved member of her community, and she loves having the opportunity to support future ETSU students while being a member of this council. In the future, she plans to attend graduate school and receive her MPH and pursue a career in healthcare advocacy work or marketing analytics.

The Student Advisory Council is a group of diverse students from across campus who can give us feedback about the following:

Why should I join?
This is a great opportunity to give back through volunteerism, get involved in the ETSU community, and build your resume. -
How much time will this take?
The group will meet about once a month on campus for 1 hour per meeting. Meeting times will be based on members' availability. -
If chosen, how long will I serve?
The application process takes place at the beginning of each fall semester. Those who are interested in serving multiple years will need to apply annually. -
What are the qualifications for membership?
Be a currently enrolled ETSU student and be willing to brainstorm ideas, review plans and projects, as well as be a voice for your fellow students! -
Does it cost anything?
Absolutely not! In fact, we will provide light refreshments at each meeting. -
How do I apply?
The application will open again in April 2026 for the 2026-2027 academic year.
