Annual
October 1
- The FAFSA opens for the next academic year.
- For example, the 2026-2027 FAFSA determines aid eligibility for fall 2026 and spring and summer of 2027. Submit it as soon as possible!
- ETSU General University Scholarship online application opens. Apply for scholarships!
- Be sure to check with ETSU departments who offer scholarships about their application process and deadlines as they may vary.
March 1
- Deadline to submit an ETSU General Scholarship Application for the next academic year.
- For example, the 2026-2027 ETSU General Scholarship Application determines aid eligibility for fall 2026 and spring and summer of 2027. Submit it as soon as possible!
April 15
- FAFSA must be complete by this date to be considered for Tennessee Student Assistance Award (TSAA) for the next academic year. Deadline based on state funding availability.
May
- Students can begin to check their eligibility for federal aid, Tennessee Education Lottery (HOPE) Scholarship, and APS for the next academic year.
- Federal Aid – Log in to your FSA account to check the status of your FAFSA and make necessary corrections.
- State Aid – Log in to your TSAC portal to check eligibility for state aid programs.
- Institutional Aid - Log in to GoldLink and click on the ‘Financial Aid’ tab to complete any verification requirements and view all aid eligibility.
Mid-June
- All financial aid authorizations and disbursements are suspended for closeout of fiscal year.
July
- Fall Start: July 1 is the priority date for submitting the FAFSA.
- Submitting a FAFSA after this date will result in aid being delayed fall. It may be necessary for you to pay your fees, tuition, and other expenses without financial aid by the fee payment deadline.
- The Office of Financial Aid and Scholarships will begin accepting spouse/dependent fee discount forms for the upcoming academic year.
- ETSU Bursar/Financial Services Office resumes disbursement and refund processes.
- Deadline for ETSU to award a Tennessee Education Lottery (HOPE) Scholarship for current academic year, including summer.
September
- Spring Start: September 30 is the priority date for submitting the FAFSA.
- Submitting a FAFSA after this date will result in aid being delayed for spring. It may be necessary for you to pay your fees, tuition, and other expenses without financial aid by the fee payment deadline.
Fall
March 1
- Deadline to submit an ETSU General Scholarship Application for the following academic year.
April 15
FAFSA must be complete by this date to be considered for Tennessee Student Assistance Award (TSAA) for the next academic year. Deadline based on state funding availability.
June
- Current Students: All student requirements on GoldLink must be satisfied or fall aid may be delayed. (For GoldLink login instructions see the GoldLink Guide to Financial Aid .)
July
- Fall Start: July 1 is the priority date for submitting the FAFSA.
- Submitting a FAFSA after this date will result in aid being delayed for fall. It may be necessary for you to pay your fees, tuition, and other expenses without financial aid by the fee payment deadline.
- Authorized aid (accepted and estimated) aid will be reflected on student accounts.
- Students can begin to accept student loans for fall.
- Students can begin to confirm registration through GoldLink for fall.
August
- Students must confirm registration and make a payment by the fee payment deadline to avoid being disenrolled from classes.
- Aid begins to credit to student accounts as it is received.
- E-refunds and direct deposit begins.
- Financial aid funds are transferred to student ID BUC$ accounts.
APS SCHOLARSHIP DEADLINES:

- First-Time Freshman Students – Apply for admission to ETSU by the Thursday before the start of the term and submit all required documents by the first day of the term to the Office of Undergraduate Admissions. Students whose documents are received after this date will not be considered for Freshman APS.
- Transfer Students – To be considered for the Transfer APS, the Office of Undergraduate Admissions must have received your final transcripts by August 1.
August 15
- Deadline for APS students to find a service position on their own for fall.
September 1
- Deadline to have FAFSA processed to be considered for Tennessee Education Lottery (HOPE) Scholarship for the fall. We do not recommend waiting until this date, especially if you are seeking other types of aid. Always submit the FAFSA as soon as possible!
Beginning of September
- Office of Financial Aid and Scholarships will adjust aid based on your registered hours. Financial Aid does not pay for audit classes.
- Instructors report student class attendance in GoldLink.
Mid-September
- If your attendance has not been reported in GoldLink as “Yes”, you will receive a notification email asking for your assistance in this matter.
- Office of Financial Aid and Scholarships will begin to adjust aid based on your class attendance as reported by instructors in GoldLink.

Spring

- Submitting a FAFSA after this date will result in aid being delayed for spring. It may be necessary for you to pay your fees, tuition, and other expenses without financial aid by the fee payment deadline.
November 1
- Review your FAFSA. If selected for verification, follow up on your financial aid status for requirements through GoldLink, read your ETSU Email frequently, and turn in all requirements to the ETSU Office of Financial Aid and Scholarships.
December
- Authorized aid (accepted and estimated) aid will be reflected on student accounts.
- Students can begin to accept student loans for spring.
- Students can begin to confirm registration through GoldLink for spring.
December 15
- Priority deadline to have completed application for admission submitted (includes application, application fee, high school transcript, ACT/SAT scores). Late applications may be considered if funding is available.
January

- Deadline to have FAFSA processed to be considered for the Tennessee Education Lottery (HOPE) Scholarship for the spring and summer.
- Follow up with your ETSU Email, check your ‘Financial Aid Status’ tab on GoldLink, or follow up with your Financial Aid Counselor regarding your status.
February 15
- Deadline for APS students to find a spring service position on their own.
March 1
- Deadline to submit an ETSU General Scholarship Application for the following academic year.
April
- Keep an eye on your financial aid status via GoldLink.
May
- Spring semester APS service requirement must be met.

Summer
February 1
- Deadline to have FAFSA processed to be considered for the Tennessee Education Lottery (HOPE) Scholarship for the spring and summer.
Mid-May
- Fees are due and confirmation of registration must be complete, if you are enrolled in classes that begin Pre-Summer, Pre-Summer + Session 1, or the Complete Summer Session.
Mid-June
- All financial aid authorizations and disbursements are suspended for closeout of fiscal year.
Mid-July
- Office of Financial Aid and Scholarships will begin to adjust financial aid awards based on class enrollment covering the entire summer.
Mid-August
- End of summer term evaluation for Satisfactory Academic Progress.
