Exception Best Practices:
- These forms are only for undergraduate students.
- Contact Graduate School for information on submitting exception requests for graduate students.
- Remember to view Degree Works before submitting the DW Exception Form.
- If also submitting a Major Change or Catalog Change Form, please check Degree Works to ensure the change has been made before submitting any exceptions.
- Lower division courses should not be substituted for upper division courses
- Please list the faculty member who approved the substitution in the comments for appropriate routing.
- Please list the transfer course rather than the ETSU equivalent (or both) if substituting transfer courses
- Exceptions should not be requested if the requirement is fulfilled
- Advisors should only submit exceptions for programs in their college
- Minor exceptions should be submitted by the Minor advisor
- Follow departmental procedures for approval of substitutions
- If an exception needs to be made for a large group of students, please contact graduation@etsu.edu before submitting the forms
