Jesse received her BS in Psychology, minor in Equine Assisted Psychotherapy, from Averett University in Danville, VA. She later pursued her MA in Counseling with a concentration in College Counseling/Student Affairs from East Tennessee State University, and is happy to be a Buc once more! Jesse is a higher-ed woman at heart, and has enjoyed working in various departments of student life during her career including student activities, orientation, admissions, conduct, academic tutoring, and alcohol and other drug education.
As a mental health counselor, Jesse explores with clients how their presenting struggles are influenced and conncted to their student development, and encourages them explore various resources to utilize while they here at ETSU. In addition, clients can expect to view their presenting issues through a holistic lense as Jesse takes them through the journey of learning to notice they ways their mind, body, and spirit are always showing them signs of how to be well once more. Jesse uses psychoeducation to help clients better understand their thoughts, feelings, and behaviors, and focuses on mindful goal setting to assist clients in making gradual steps toward change. You will catch her sharing one of her favorite quotes, "As you walk the way, the way appears"- Rumi, often in counseling, encouraging clients as they move one step closer each day to who they want to become.
