Zara received his bachelor’s degree in psychology at East Tennessee State University
in 2020 as well as a masters in counseling in 2024. Since graduating, he has worked
at East Tennessee State University’s Counseling Center. Zara’s therapeutic approach
is centered around taking a non-judgmental approach to meeting clients where they
are in the moment. Zara primarily utilizes a combination of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy
(CBT), Motivational Interviewing (MI) and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT)
to help clients explore the connections between their thoughts, feelings and actions.
Zara enjoys working with a variety of clients, including those navigating life-transitions,
members of the LGBTQIA+ community, relational and family concerns, and individuals
who struggle with perfectionism, people-pleasing, and imposter phenomenon. In his
spare time, Zara enjoys spending time with his friends and family, reading, and playing
a new board game.
