Precepting is a flexible role that allows Quillen College of Medicine community physicians and providers to engage on a short- or long-term basis. The time commitment varies by program, so you can precept in a way that fits your personal and professional schedule.

Opportunities for Involvement:

Pre-clerkship didactics
- M1 and M2 students
- Instructor-led teaching sessions

Teaching Rounds
- Faculty facilitate small group case presentation and discussion with students based on prior standardized patient encounter
- Facilitator guides provided
- Sessions are two hours long, primarily on Tuesday or Thursday afternoons
- Final session in Fall is four hours

Inquiry (IQ) Cases
- Student-centered, small group learning
- Students are joined with a faculty facilitator to research and discuss paper cases
- Students develop their own learning objectives on the first day of the cases and then discuss what they have researched and learned on the second day of the cases
- Meets on Wednesday mornings
