Community Preceptors
Our community preceptors are helping to prepare the next generation of physicians! Medical students are matched with a physician and spend time in a clinical setting. Being a preceptor for a medical student is a rewarding role that involves guiding, mentoring the student. The preceptor has the opportunity to share medical knowledge and experiences and helping them develop their clinical skills. The physician supervises the student rotation, provides feedback, and evaluates the student’s progress.
This enables the student to apply the knowledge gained in the classroom to the “real world” of health care. The medical student can assist in patient care, taking patient histories, performing physical exams and conducting initial assessments. They can also assist in simple procedures, under supervision. The student can also assist with research, literature reviews and data analysis. The student brings new ideas and the latest information to the physician and the clinical practice, while forming relationships that can benefit them throughout their medical career
