Please be aware that applications are only accepted through Electronic Residency Application Service (ERAS)for both residency and fellowship programs .

Information about the service may be obtained from your Dean's Office or from the American Association of Medical Colleges (AAMC) International medical graduates may obtain information about ERAS through the Educational Commission for Foreign Medical Graduates (ECFMG).
The Internal Medicine residency program will begin releasing interview invitations no later than September 30. Applicants receiving an interview offer will have been contacted by December 19. However, there may be a rare occasion when, due to cancellation, someone would be contacted later in the season.
Application Requirements:
All candidates must follow the same processes for application and interviewing in order to be considered for the East Tennessee State University (ETSU) Quillen College of Medicine (QCOM) Internal Medicine Residency and Fellowships.
- Applications are only accepted through the ERAS program. No faxed, mailed and/or emailed applications will be accepted. Resident applications are accepted through November 15th. Fellowship applications are accepted through September 1st.
- Candidates requiring visa sponsorship must provide specific information in their application. To be eligible for employment at ETSU candidates must have US Citizenship, a Green Card or be eligible for a J-1 Visa.
- Our program participates in the National Resident Matching Program (NRMP) and does not offer pre-match positions.
- Our program does follow NRMP'S couples match policy.
- All candidates applying for first year residency position must be registered with NRMP. http://www.nrmp.org
Current Senior Students in and Criteria for Graduates from US Allopathic and Osteopathic Medical Schools:
- A graduate within the past two years of a medical school is recognized and approved by the Tennessee State Board of Medical Examiners. Graduation date may be extended to 2 years for candidates who are actively pursuing an additional advanced degree or active duty military service.
- Medical School Transcript
- USMLE Transcripts for Step 1, Step 2 CK and CS or COMLEX Transcripts for Level 1, Level 2 CE and PE.

To be considered for a resident position in the Department of Internal Medicine, applicants must:
o Have not failed any Step exams;
o Have a minimum score on at least one Step exam of 220 for US graduates, 240 for International graduates; and
o All Step scores must be received prior to the Program’s submission of rank order list to NRMP. - Current CV
- Resident applications must include medical school performance evaluation from the Dean of your medical school.
- Three letters of reference from faculty members or preceptors aware of your clinical skills.
- Personal Statement outlining your interest in a career in Internal Medicine.
- Fellowship applications must include proof of completion from ACGME Accredited Internal Medicine residency.
Criteria for Graduates from International Medical School:
- A graduate within the past two years of a medical school that is recognized and approved by the Tennessee State Board of Medical Examiners. al advanced degree or have been in private practice in their home country.
- Medical School Transcript, USMLE Transcript, including passing scores on Step 1 and both parts of Step 2. Only one failure per transcript will be eligible for acceptance.
