Outdoor Facilities & Fields
ETSU Campus Recreation offers a variety of outdoor facilities and fields designed for recreation, competition, and adventure. From team sports and outdoor challenges to trail exploration and leisure activities, our outdoor spaces provide opportunities for students and members to stay active and connect with the campus community.
Our outdoor facilities include the Basler Team Challenge and Aerial Adventure Course featuring a climbing, rappelling, and bouldering tower; two Intramural and Sport Club fields located at the CPA; the Knoxville TVA Employees Credit Union Sports Complex with a turf field, grass field, and Field House; the University Woods Trail System; a 9-hole Disc Golf Course; and six tennis courts.

Knoxville TVA Employees Credit Union Sports Complex
The Knoxville TVA Employees Credit Union Sports Complex serves as the primary outdoor facility for ETSU Intramural and Sport Clubs programming. The complex hosts a variety of activities, including Intramural Flag Football, Softball, and Soccer.
Both fields are multi-use spaces, featuring softball configurations with bases and outfield fencing, while also accommodating larger field setups for soccer and flag football. Field 1 features a 100% synthetic turf softball field with bases at 60’, 65’, and 70’ and a 300’ outfield fence, along with a 40-yard x 100-yard flag football field inlayed in the outfield. Field 2 is a natural grass field with softball configurations at 65’ and 70’ bases, an outfield fence ranging from 270’ to 300’, and space for a rectangular field up to 50 yards x 110 yards.
Both fields include scoreboards and field lighting. The Sports Complex is available for reservations when not in use for Intramural or Club Sports programming. For reservation information, visit the Facility Reservations page on the Campus Recreation website.
The Knoxville TVA Employees Credit Union Sports Complex is located at 1510 Seminole Drive.

CPA Front Yard & Side Yard
The CPA Front Yard, located to the northeast of the Center for Physical Activity (CPA), and the CPA Side Yard, located to the north of the CPA, are primarily used for Intramural and Sport Club practices and games.

Campus Rec Tennis Courts
The ETSU Campus Recreation Tennis Courts provide outdoor recreation opportunities for students, faculty, and staff. Tennis equipment is available for checkout at the CPA Equipment Desk, and court space is available for open recreation and approved reservations.
Hours & Location
The tennis courts are open from dawn to 11:00 pm. Parking is available in Lot 22D (across from Summers-Taylor Stadium). Accessible parking is available near the courts.

Courts are available for ETSU students, faculty, and staff. Private instruction, classes, or organized activities are not permitted without written approval from the Department of Campus Recreation. Campus Recreation programs, Intramural Sports, Sport Clubs, PHED classes, and registered student organizations must have approved reservations and supervision.Tennis Court Lights
To activate the lights, press the silver button located to the left of the center gate. The lights operate on a 60-minute timer and can be reset during the final 10 minutes of use. Lights automatically turn off at 11:00 pm.Sport Club & Intramural Use
Campus Recreation-sponsored activities, including Intramural Sports and Sport Club practices, take priority over other requests. Sport Club practice schedules are posted on the Sport Club website. -
ETSU Disc Golf Course
The ETSU Disc Golf Course is a partnership between Campus Recreation, the Department of Housing and Residence Life, and the Disc Golf Club at ETSU that provides a fun, healthy lifestyle activity for the campus community. The course was made possible through generous funding from the Student Government Association’s BUC Fund and the contributions of ETSU students, faculty, and staff involved in its planning and completion.
The course was dedicated on February 8, 2012, and is located at the intersection of Southwest Avenue and Treasure Lane. ETSU students, faculty, and staff can check out a set of discs from the CPA Equipment Desk or the Buccaneer Ridge Clubhouse with a valid ETSU ID.

University Woods Trail System
The ETSU University Woods Trail System features five miles of trails for hiking, running, and mountain biking on the ETSU campus. The trails provide an opportunity for outdoor recreation and exploration and can be accessed from Parking Lot 13 off Southwest Avenue or from behind the Baptist Collegiate Ministry.
To help maintain a safe and enjoyable experience for all users, please follow these guidelines when using the University Woods Trail System:
- Fires and camping are not permitted.
- Trails are closed from dusk until dawn.
- Motorized and gas-powered vehicles or equipment are not permitted.
- Be aware of other trail users, including hikers, runners, and mountain bikers.
- Do not disturb or remove plants, animals, or natural features.
- Follow all ETSU campus regulations and policies.
- Practice Leave No Trace principles by respecting the environment and leaving the trails as you found them.

Basler Team Challenge and Aerial Adventure Course
The Basler Team Challenge and Aerial Adventure Course offers a state-of-the-art low and high ropes outdoor experience designed for team building, adventure, and personal challenge. The course features ground-level team-building activities, two ziplines, a giant swing, quick descent, and a three-level aerial challenge tower with elements ranging from beginner to advanced at heights of 15–45 feet.
The course is located along Go Bucs Trail and S. Greenwood Drive.
