Debate Team Places in Top Ten in State Competition
This past weekend, Emma Sherlin and Gowri Tumkr represented our UH Speech and Debate Team at the State Competition in Clarksville, TN. Emma and Gowri competed against schools from all over the state. There were almost 30 different debate teams they had to battle on both Friday and Saturday! We are so proud to announce that Gowri and Emma were awarded a plaque for reaching 8th place overall!!!! This is the first year our school has had a debate team AND entered this competition, which makes their stunning victory that much more Fantastic! Emma and Gowri are the 8th best debate team IN THE STATE. Just imagine what we as a school can achieve next year!

But we need YOUR help! Our speech and debate team needs more members! There are so many other events in Speech and Debate! Our school especially needs students who are interested in theater and drama, storytelling, radio broadcasting, and being a Mime...just to name a few of the other events besides debate that students participate in at these competitions. Please consider joining our team- as you can see we have so much potential for even greater conquests!

Any student interested should talk to Ms Bragg.

Once again, let's hear it for Gowri and Emma who showed up and showed out at the Debate State Competition!

Debate Team Winners

Debate Team Winners at Candy Cane Invitational
Congratulations to Gowri T. and Emma S., who won 5th place in the Public Forum Debate category at the Candy Cane Invitational competition at Sullivan East.  Ashor and Lilly won two of their four rounds during the Public Forum Debate as well! Our entire team defied their inexperience and were so successful!  This is an amazing accomplishment because the schools we competed against had many more people they brought with them, this is our school’s second time attending a competition, and this was Emma’s first time ever at a competition. Way to go, Bucs!
